About Me

I was born the son of a Asian Healer dressed in sheep's clothing. I am a mix of Lab and Border Collie, but always seeking the balance of my feline friends!
And for those of you looking for something more relevant...
I was born in Northern California, in the shadow of Mount Shasta. I grew up on a cattle ranch with siblings and attended a boarding school on the Monterey Peninsula for high school. In 1980 I received a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Stanford University. I tried out corporate opportunities before realizing I had to find something else to do. I became a Professional Bartender to earn a living, and I enrolled in Acupuncture School to feed my desire to serve others.
I've been practicing Acupuncture since graduating from Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1991. I split my time between Bartending and Patient Care for 17 years while building my Practice.
In the early 2000's I witnessed some unusual things in my practice that led me to realize our Food Supply and our Environment are challenging the body's natural ability to heal itself. At that point I started to integrate whole food nutrition and nutritional counseling into my acupuncture and herbal healing practice. I pursued numerous forms of Muscle Testing Systems to help with that work, and eventually I found an affordable Mentor with a sound Program.
In 2008 I went full time into my Acupuncture Practice. I've "enjoyed" the ups and downs of full time self-employment ever since. I've seen my patients in two office locations (Monterey and Prunedale) . I've also done home visits for those who are not mobile. At this time I'm just working out of my Prunedale Office and doing some Tele Medicine work.
In 2014 I met my Business Manager, Bryan Canary. He came in as a patient with a "small collection of health issues". He needed my help badly, and he knew it. He had prior experience with Acupuncture and Muscle Testing as a Patient. Clinical Nutrition was new to him. As it turns out, I needed his help almost as much, although it took me longer to figure that part out. We've been working together regularly since late 2014, and it's been a good thing for all of us.
If I was in the world to accumulate lots of money, I would have stayed in the Corporate World and followed an easier path. Or maybe I'd own a chain of Bars in a Tropical place filled with many smiling Tourists. I'm here for something else.
I look forward to meeting you.
Ric
